Day Seven: Praising Him

Day Seven of Thirty Days of Prayers from the Psalms
Praising Him
Psalms 47, 49, 50

Clap your hands, all you nations; shout to God with cries of joy. Psalm 47:1

Father God, I stand fearless today because I have a safe place to hide in you. You fight

my battles for me. There is no such thing as self rescue, it is beyond my capability. But

you, Father, snatch me from the clutch of death, reaching down and grabbing me. Even

before the sun rises, you are my protector. Lord, I give you a banquet of praise and

honor preparing the way to receive your salvation. Let my praises be evident today that

everyone may see you are a marvelous God. I am still for a moment taking a long loving

look at the most high God, exhaulted above all nations, all politics, above everything

everywhere. You are Lord over all the earth. The powers of earth are yours. I ponder

your love in action, God, and long to tell the next generation detail by detail the greatest

love story ever written. My God forever, who guides me until the end of time.

[Thank God specifically today for how he has rescued you and shown his love to you.]

overcome by evil. Please let my actions be consistent with your principles. Open my

eyes to your truths, and overwhelm me with the desire to follow you. Turn my eyes from

worthless temptations. [List them.] Give me discernment so that I may know your will for

me. Help me not to stumble and fall, but live in such a way that I bring praise to you.

You examine my heart and know everything about me. You know what I am thinking and

what I am going to say even before I say it. I cannot hide my thoughts from you, even in

darkness, thoughts of [list them]. I ask that you destroy the wickedness that begins in

Day Four: Praising Him

Day Four of Thirty Days of Prayers From The Psalms
Praising Him
 Psalms 8, 19, 29, 57, 65, 84, 121, 138, 144

When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which
you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you
care for him? Psalm 8:3

Father, your majesty is evident throughout the entire Earth. The nighttime gives us the

moon and stars you set in place, and you alone allow the sun to rise in the morning in

all its radiance. In it, your glory shines over all the earth. Your voice thunders over the

mighty sea and makes the desert quake. By your power and strength, you formed the

mountains. You are the maker of the heavens and the earth and the maker and

preserver of my life. You love me so much that you keep watch over me day and night
You will not let me stumble and fall.

Forgiver of my sins and full of unfailing love. You reign as king forever. Though you are

great and mighty, you care for the humble. In your loving gentleness, you give me

strength and bless me with peace. Lord, you are my light and my protector, giving me

grace and glory. Oh, the joy I can receive when I completely trust in you! You are my

rock when I am weak. Your love is my fortress, delivering me from the power of the

enemy. The river of your blessings never runs dry.

[What words of praise can you give your heavenly Father from just this prayer?  For
example, Creator, Protector, and so forth.]

Day Three: Confessions of the Heart

Day Three of Thirty Days of Prayers From the Psalms
 Psalms 3, 6, 7, 9, 10, 13, 14, 18, 22, 37, 42, 46, 53, 116

But you are a shield around me, O Lord; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head.
Psalm 3:3

Father God, I cry out for your mercy on me. I ask that you have compassion on me

today. My heart is in anguish and fear overwhelms me. I am weak with heart sickness,

worn out from sobbing. My vision is blurred by grief. I seek protection in the shadow of

your wings until this storm of life has passed. Rescue me, Lord, lead me to safety. If I

am guilty of any wrongdoing, please make me fully aware so that I may repent. Look

deep within my mind and heart. Have mercy on me, for you do not ignore those who cry

for help. You alone are my refuge in these days of distress. When I feel afraid, I will put

my trust in you and praise your name. For you keep track of all my sorrows and collect

all my tears. Father, I cry out to you to restore the light to my eyes and to my life. Bring

your light into my darkness.

I lay before you all my fears today.

[What is causing your heart sickness today? Pray to God about them now.]

Thirty Days of Prayers From The Psalms

Why do I pray?
Because prayer releases God’s power on earth. It is a mighty weapon given to me and you for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:4). Our desire to pray never begins without an initial sense of need, a stirring of our heart brought on by God to discover His will and reflect His mind. It is an ongoing intimate flow of love between the Father and His child. The more I pray, the closer I grow to God and His desires of the heart become mine.
Praying also gives me a sense of comfort and peace in knowing my problems are in the hands of the only One who has control.
 How do I pray?
Sometimes I don’t have the words to say, my heart is too heavy, my mind is too overloaded. When this happens, there is never a better place to start than with praying God’s Word, falling back on his truths. I can lean on his words when I have none of my own.
Jesus says “So I say to you; ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened” (Luke 11:9-10).
This scripture clearly tells me God gives freely, without fail, to every child  who asks. But prayer is not just about asking; it is about seeking: seeking God, the most important relationship you and I will ever have. “To him who knocks, the door will be opened”. Knocking is a repeated action, not a onetime thing. With every desire of the heart, we need the repeated act of knocking. Then we must learn to listen. Conversation with God is not one-way. He has something to say to us, and we discover it when we learn to listen and read his holy word.
I have written Thirty Days of Prayers From The Psalms  and would like to share it with you on my blog. It reveals the emotions expressed throughout the book of Psalms. Every emotion of man can be found there. The focus is on three expressions of our hearts to God: praising Him, thankfulness, and confessions of the heart. In each prayer, you are praying God’s Word back to Him.

If you enjoy this, please pass it on to a friend and share the hope we have found in Christ, our most intimate relationship we will ever have.

Day One
Praising Him
Psalms  34, 100, 136,145

Surely the righteous will praise your name and the upright will live before you. Psalm 140:13

Father, your greatness is beyond understanding. You are a compassionate God full of unfailing love.

You lift me up when I am carrying heavy burdens and are always close to me whenever I call your name. I can lay all my

fears at your feet, and you free me from them. When my heart is breaking and my spirit is crushed, you comfort me. With

deep respect and honor I call your name; you hear me and supply all my needs. You not only save me for all eternity, but

you save me from myself each day. My heart is overflowing with gladness, for you have created me and I am yours. Your

love for me will never end. You are the God of the miracles in scripture, and you are still doing miracles today in my life

[List them.] You recognize my weaknesses and save me from the enemies of life that surround me and attack me from

within. Your endless love never fails. Your greatness is beyond any discovery ever made. You are kind and merciful,

slow to get angry and full of unfailing love. You shower compassion on all your creation. Lord you are faithful and

gracious in all you do. When I am bent beneath a load of worry, my eyes look to you and you are there for me, reassuring

me and protecting me. I will praise you, Lord, as long as I live.
[Thank him now for specific ways he has comforted you in difficult times.]
